2055's and Fan Switch Relay

OK, what are you guys with Hooker 2055's doing to keep your Fan switch relay from getting toasted?

I burned mine off (literally) and now need to replace the sensor and the plug/wire. It is in a terrible position because it almost directly lands on the header.

I am thinking about buying some heavy duty abestos wrap to put around the wire, but not sure if thats going to save the plug/sensor....

Thoughts / pictures of what people have done here would be greatly appreciated.

The relay is on the firewall. How are you burning it with headers?

Or, did you mean the temp switch? Tucked the wire behind the starter wires.

the wire from the plug on mine comes directly out and is very very close to the header.

Well, yes, it comes close on mine, I bent the wire as close to the connector as I could and tucked it away from the tube as best I could. Ran that way from 2000-2004.

My headers are now coated. That helps.

Thanks 57, I will do that... I am also adding some thermotec protective sleeving to go around the wire for added insurance... good to 2000deg, so that should work.
