engine compression

well i got a 305 and my budy who does my engine work says dont put no more money tring to get my engine to work right , he sais the engine compressions off and it aint worth putting time and money into a 305 (which i dont blame him) but i dont have any extra cash for a new engine and my other budy wont be selling me his 350/th350 casue he got a new toy to play with

here is what it does , turn key and its cranks very very fast dont start , turn key back to off and turn it back o0n same thing turn it off and turn it back on and it fires right up (t6hats what i been sinking my money into fixing that) and he said the heads arnt getting the sealed oil to give the engine its needed compression what can be done to fix this i might as well just start saving up for a new camaro but this one has no body damage or rust any were best body i ever seen beisdes it needs a new paintjob but hey who's dont

The correct way to find out if it has compression problems would be to do a compression test with a compression gauge.

after checking the compression, i would take a look at fuel pressure, it kind of sounds like you have none until the oil pressure builds up enough to close the oil pressure switch or like the pump is priming too slow.

do a compression test for sure. all cylinders should be atleast with in 10% also check for oil in your coolant, or vice versa. sounds like if the motor is shot it would be worth droping a motor in if you like the car, if not ditch it.
