Any ideas where im down on power at?

From what Ive read and researched, I am missing atleast 60chp some where. My traps, and my car weighing at 3480 with me in it, show that Im somewhere around 260chp with a drivetrain loss of 26%. Same set up as whats in the sig. The car does feel good around town besides for a low cruising rpm miss/hesitation thats around 1200-1500, but any higher and its very smooth. I did re run my valve lash and it seems to have helped alot with the hesitation.

I jetted it up, and it gained a bit more MPH, and kept the 60's close to the same. Im not exactly sure where timing is, as the balancer seems to be slipping the more I take the car out, and wind the motor up. Looks to be off by 45-55*s right now. I know initial was close to 14, and the mechanical advance kit that I put in, says that it will add 23*'s, so I should be in the ball park. I need to make a few more runs to finnalize the timing.

A compression test showed very close to 120 all the way accross, the plugs all look even, and are starting to tan up with the fatter jetting. Before they would barily show anything after 500miles, and now after 200-250 they are turning a nice tanish color.

Any ideas on where to look for a little bit more out of it? I thought maybe the cam wasnt agressive enough, and might change it out to a XE274 over the winter, along with a new tq converter.

The car does well on the street. It doent have much get up and go in first off the line, but punch it close to 3k, and it jumps and just keeps pulling pretty good all the way to 5800 and all of the gears. Suprised me, I ran it against a 02 auto LS1 on the highway, that I had just did a ported TB, free ram air, and some other little things, and I could actually hold him off to only getting a car on me from 55-110.

Sounds like you dont have enough converter in the car. The cam dosent make power at very low rpms and you need a converter that stalls into the powerband.

Would that help it pick up that much? About the only week points at the track is the start, and when im in third, it feels like I could eat launch. First isn't too bad actually out there. If I roll into it from idle, I dont spin, from what I can tell, and my friends watching the whitewalls. If I stall the converter to 800, and then roll into it again, it will start to spin at some point. Im looking into getting some full on slicks, or some BFG drag radials for it now, and also searching the junk yards for a stock posi rear end.

I know the LS1 guy had to be close to 280+ at the wheels, and he should only have weighed another 350 or so over me, as he had his GF riding with him, and the 4th gens are atleast another 150-200lbs heavier.

I know the car is getting fuel in 3rd, as I have made many a full pull in all of the gears, with someone watching a fuel pressure gauge right before the carb inlet, and it sits steady 5.0-6.0.
