not sure if it's gonna hold...never seen anyone weld a block. I think you should find a good machine shop and have it magna fluxed and dipped.

i highly doubt that they will hold up. and if they do it wont be for long. i would just get another block and start over.

You already got it down to the bare block, its not worth it to put all that back into your motor for a disappointment. Could do more damage to new parts than its worth.

I am pretty sure that if it holds, it will not hold for long. Weld is alot stronger then the surrounding metal. If the engine were to reach operating temperature the two different kinds of metals probably will not expand at the same rate causing block fatigue or cracking. Not to mention the vibrations and harmonics traveling through an engine block. I don't think it will hold. To each their own. -Bob

Time to start looking for another block. The 350 I picked up for 50 bucks had cracks in the lifter valley so the machine shop sold me another block for 100 bucks. Also sold them the heads off the first 350 for 50 bucks

welding cast iron is very tricky, you used a mig and normal steel wire didn't you? It'll crack.

I thought you welded in the cylinders, you just did the outside of the block, and the waterjackets?? I don't think it'll be a problem there, not a high stress area, but I still don't think those welds will hold for long.

A 350 block is rare in GEORGIA??
