TPI engine mods, any help

i am looking for some info on my 87 tpi. i am doing a rebuild and i am having trouble deciding on which cam,pistons head mods,tranny,rear end,computor.without running into to much trouble with performance,should i eliminate egr,air,cat? i want to use stock intake and runners and manifold but will be modified.any suggestions on this combo.
