mini starter
so my starter **** the bed and i went out and got a new mini starter (fits 153 and 168), let me say its a lot lighter and easyer to put in when laying on the ground, i didnt know if i hade the 153 or 168 tooth flex plate so i have on idea what need to be done to the mounting plate of the starter befor i install it, anyone have any advice?
just bolt it in then pull the pinion out to see how well it mates to the ring gear...adjust from there....on a side note i didnt think there was a starter that fit both tooth count ring gear....tao

Alot of the mini-starters have both bolt patterns; which makes it work with either size of ring gear, but IF AND ONLY IF your block has the late-model bolt pattern. Which about any block from 80-up or so, will have.
Just use the set of bolt holes that works. I don't think you'll have too much trouble figuring out what to do, once you start doing it and you see what the parts look like.

all of our cars came W/ the 153 tooth flywheel, , depending on your individual car you may have to "clock" the starter on it's mounting plate, and for the 153 tooth flywheel you will use the mounting holes that move the starter closer to the block
