Bad water pump?

Hey again guys,
I'm hearing a whistling sound from under the hood of my GTA that sounds like it's coming from my water pump. I can't exactly pin point it, but i'm pretty sure it's in that area. Is that a common thing for water pumps to do on their way out? I know that when they finally do go, they dump coolant from a weep hole. I don't want to wait for that to happen since i'm in Germany and I have to order all parts online for my car. I'd rather get it now just in case. What do you guys think? Am I correct?

Usually a whistling would indicate a vacuum leak due to a cracked line, or a blown out gasket somewhere (usually intake or carb, since this is where alot of pressure builds). Go through and check for vacuum leaks first and foremost, see what you can find. You can also pick up a guage for a few bucks that will read your vacuum. All you have to do is hook it onto a fitting.

While youre at the atuo parts store picking up that gauge, go ahead and get an automotive stethescope. It looks just like the one your doctor uses, except the end has a 10" or so metal rod sticking out of the the end. For me, this thing has been instrumental in finding the answer to "Where's that noise coming from?".
