How far back can i mount a remote mount oil filter

Sorry if this is on the wrong forum guys.
I searched but could not find what i needed.
I have a duel remote mount
oil filter setup that i want to mount on my car.
I want to put it back on the side of the trunk space we have,so underneath
the car between the quater panel and the trunk area,
On the instructions it says to unroll the hose you get with the kit
and halve it and that is as far away that you can mount it.
I have seen people mount them on the rear of there car's so can i do
this or will the oil psi drop to much.
What other reason would there be for them to say to only mount it that
distance away.Would -10 AN be about the right size to use.

Thanks.

Jeff

They say that because that's all the hose they put in the kit.

I've bought extra hose and mounted it over 6' away. No problems other than supporting the hose - solved by using nifty little nylon tie mount buttons that push into 1/4" holes.

Looks like -8AN but i read on here someone said they would not use less than a 10 because any less could cause a restriction.

Thanks.

Im thinking of doing this and maybe even springing for one of the setups like on over the road trucks where part of the oil is removed and completely cleaned and then it keeps doing that over and over. These guys have gone 500,000 miles on an oil change and the oil still tests like new oil even then. Its a few hundred bucks from what ive read but thats ok if you never have to do anything but change the filters and get a little oil once or twice a year and send it to a company for testing to check that the oil is still good enough to use.

I got rid of my charcoal canister on the drivers side up front just opposite of the battery. I was thinking of putting a oil filter set up there or maybe running the lines all the way back by the back bumper.

The more filtration the better. After all oil NEVER wears out it just gets dirty. It can be recycled and reused just about forever. So the cleaner you keep it the less you have to change it and the better for the environment and everyone else. The only thing with those setups is you change the filters occasionally and only have to replace the oil that you lose stuck inside the filter element.

Ive never heard of anything to keep you from mounting it as far away as you like. The oil pump in an engine is very powerful and can send oil under pressure as far as you want. Those remote mount turbos get oil from the engine the only thing they have is a pump to send it back. Some of them Ive seen online that were homemade and ghettod up didnt have a return pump and they worked just fine.

The only problem i have with putting it where the canister use to be
is it could get a bit messy when changing the filters.
That's not a big problem though.I would probobly mount them near the rear bumper.

Cheers.

What brand is the kit? The AMSOIL dual remote I used had 13/32" hose. That's plenty for a street car.

I would like to see this article which claims such milage from the oil.. the standard practice for every trucking company i have talked with has been to change the oil ever 15000 miles... roughly once every month and a half. A truck has a warranty of 500,000 miles... you do have to change the oil.. and no amount of filtering is going to make it like new... as it is they have 2 oil filters, water filters, fuel filters... they have a filter for everything.... so that just sounds rediculas... If such a thing exsisted every trucking company would jump all over that and have it installed on every single one of thier trucks.. since an oil change for a truck and filter replacement and greasing of the different area's runs about $250.. which would ad up in a pretty big hurry with a company that has 200 trucks.

You would think so, wouldn't you.

AMSOIL has been marketing by-pass super-filteration systems for over 20 years ( AMSOIL - By-Pass Filter Mounting Kits , http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g1092.pdf ), with test after test showing the cost- and wear-effectiveness of the concept. With oil analysis, you just change the filters and top off the oil as long as the oil itself meets specs. One typical cause of oil needing to be changed is coolant contamination, which is usually cuased by some sort of mechanical problem needing repair, and the oil analysis pointed out that need to you.

But, Big Oil wants you to continue to buy their product, so they put out misinformation about the system (amoung other things, like the 3k oil change myth); and OEMs threaten warranty voiding, although it's never stood up in court, etc., etc., etc.

But, operators are starting to get the message, and are telling BO and OEMs to get with the program; check for yourself and you'll see that more and more fleets are using such systems.

Most trucks already have a dual oil filter installed by the factory Does basically the same thing... one thing though.. on an actual fleet truck you are working with gallons of oil.. not quarts.. a little bit different.. and please.. list some fleet names.. and I will give them a call and see how they like it and if it has been beneficail for them.
