pcv valve pulsates

Im not sure if this is normal operation or not - The PCV valve is located in the driver side valve cover. If i put my fingers on the hose for the PCV while the car is running it pulsates - kinda like a fast heartbeat. There is no oil in the hose or anything. My buddy 'mechanic' said it shouldnt be like that. ANyone know if this is normal or not????......that thebest i can explain it. thanks.

If you are feeling a pulsation on the HOSE for the PCV valve (with the PCV valve removed from it) there is likely a problem. I'd take my first wild guess at a sticking/leaking intake valve.

If you can feel strong pulses of air coming out of the pvc hole or oil fill hole, my first guess would be bad rings. A little pulse isn't that big of a deal... it is kind of hard to quantify this. Combustion pressure is getting into the crank case (block) somehow.

I was thinking about what Vader said... I agree.
