Opinions on XE274H

alright, ordered a 12-246-3 comp cam just 20 mintues ago... simply because it was a better cam to go with, then what i currently have and what not...

but my question is, those who have it, what are your opinions?

idle quality?

Duration @.050 230/236
Lift w/1.6 rockers .519/.523
110 LSA..

sound like a kickass cam or what?

Some guys will say that is good for the street but I think in a street driven daily driver it will be to much cam for a 350.It would be better in a 383.I would have gone with the 268 but it will idle like a beast if that is what you are looking for.Vaccum should be around 9-12inches.It will lope pretty hard. You might need a vaccum canister. If you look at the comp website they made 11inchs of vaccum at 800rpms.Thats not much.

compared to the current cam, i make 8inches at 800, and 15 at 1100...

my current cam is 234/244@.050 .520/.544, but on a 114 LSA... very weak sounding idle, strong performance... but with the smaller comp cam, DD shows produces more power...

I had the same XE-274 cam in a 305 pulling a 5,500 lbs brick. Ran pretty well for what it was. Idle vacuum was low, but thanks to hydroboost the brake pedal feel was 100% stock. It made 12 in/hg @ 850 RPM in the 10.6:1 305.

I have an XE274 in my 11:1 350. Runs really nice - Idle has some rumble, but its not what I would call rough. It makes about 13-15" vacuum at 800rpm idle, so the brakes and PCV work just fine. I'm pretty happy with mine.

when I had my XE274 it ran great on the street. I liked to keep the idle up around 950RPM in gear which gave me a pretty smooth idle. Drop it down a little bit and it got nice and "thumpity." Power brakes worked fine I wanna say my idle vacuum was around 12-14"

I would not hesitate to use this cam again. In my opinion it is one of the best mild street/strip motor cams you can get. Great streetability and tons of power from 2500-5500RPM

Make sure you use some good diesel motor oil (use Shell Rottella T 15w40) with a bottle of GMs oil additive (Engine Oil Supplement, or EOS) when you break it in. The 'XE' cams are notorious for going bad when people break them in. I've done a few with that oil and GMs additive, and never had a problem.
