STARTER PROBLEM or......

I dont know what to do anymore :/ cant get my 92 firebird started...everytime i turn the key it makes this 'click' sound like the little star on the starter hitting the flywheel but doesnt meet the grooves, first i thought it was ign swich (it was a mission to change that 1) but no then starter so bought an aftr mrkt mini gear red starter($200) still did the same so then thought im not getting enough power to it for w/e reason so end up changing all wiring to brand new incl the batt, still not too much luck it did work for short period of time like 3 weeks and then 1 day back to the same thing :/ at least now that i have the aftr mrkt starter it doesnt have that cover over the little star on it so i can manualy engage it into flywheel with a phillips screwdriver from the side of the car but im just tired of climbing under it everytime i need to start it...any idea what it could be? thanx

Check to be sure that the main chassis ground is in the proper location and in good condition. My old car used to do the same thing and would start when jumped. Check for any corrosion, loose grounds and things like that. Sounds like you have taken care of about everything else! At least when you do get it all figured out you have all that new stuff to not worry about!!

Before you go wasting more money have you tried trouble-shooting with a multi-meter/volt meter? A decent digital volt meter is only probably 10$.
