If valve lash is off, will it make engine run rough?
I have never set the valve lash. From what I have read, you start the car with the valve cover off. Then one by one, back off the adjustment nut until it clacks then tighten it til it stops clacking, then 1/4 more turn. Right?
Once this is done, will it make a rough running engine smooth out? There are only like 200 miles since a new cam install by someone else. Could valves get out of adjustment that quick?

I'm not really sure if your rough situation is caused by the lack of adjustment on the rockers... However, I would definitely adjust them soon. A new cam and lifters will "break-in" and need adjustment. This situation is greater if you have other new parts like springs...
