how do i go about hooking up a tachometer to a distributorless system? the car has a crank sensor of course and i cam position sensor...i dont know if that matters. im reading something about hooking one of the wires to the negative terminal on the coil. how do i find the negative terminal? i know u guys are experts so this is the first place i came to for help. i dont care if i sound like a dimwit either

there is an "engine speed signal" wire that comes out of pin #42 on the PCM connector. could this be a satisfactory place to hook up the tach signal wire too? will an engine speed speed signal from a PCM send too many pulses?
it is for an OBDII equipped 4 cylinder car with a dual coil pack system.
