Guestimate?

alright, i guess i'm a new member, but i couldnt think of any better place to ask this...
just got the IROC back from the shop, got a list of things that needed fixed....about how much would this all cost?

driver door spring/ window regulator
Transmission mount is torn away, needs to be replaced
needs brake fluid flushed
engine mount is torn away, needs replaced
inner and outer tie rod ends lost pre-load
washer pump hose disconnected from pump
front crank seal seeping oil
hodd is sprung, needs adjusted, doesnt close properly
valve cover gaskets leaking oil
distributer gasket leaking
front and rear shocks losing oil
needs tires, all four wearing excessivly on inside, needs alignment
high idle
runs rough
air pump disconnected

they recomend a complete tune up, then replace engine and transmission mounts, then move on to suspension.

How car saavy are you? I dont see a single thing that you probably couldn't tackle yourself and take care of most of it is easy things. I would think you would pay quite a bit thought if you got all of that done in one wack at a shop. I know at my shop that I am the manager of we are @ 75 an hour which is cheaper then most all others in town.

trans and engine mounts are cheap ($15 each, 2 motor mounts, 1 trans mount) if you have a good jack, you can do them yourself. I replaced the centerlink, idler arm, and inner and outer tierod ends for $140 and 3 hours on a Sat. Wait. Are you gonna pay a mechanic for all of this?

well, theres a guy that i know that has worked on chevys for years, he said he would help me and charge alot less then a shop (hes a mechanic at a local shop) and has all the tools, i plan on helping, but i'm not to incredibly car savy to trust myself to do it alone.
what are the best parts to use in this situation?

If you're gonna use the car for a daily driver with an occasional romp at the tracks, like I did with my Cutty, I bought the front suspension parts from Autozone. They were cheap, and you get a credit for the cores. Valve cover seals and distributer seals are really easy, as they are on the top of the motor. Shocks are cheap too, but again, it really depends on what you are gonna do with it.
