Estimated Drag Times?

Ok, so i have an 89 Camaro RS with a built 350. as is its estimated at 320 or so hp. It has a 700r4 with a mild shift kit, and an original 2.73 rear end. Anyone able to give me a good guestimate of what i could be looking at when i go to the strip? Thanks

Ya I was thinking low to mid 14s myself but I didn't know if that was optimistic. Can't wait to get it to the strip.

Don't be disappointed if you can't get out of the 15's. You have no idea how much power the engine is actually making and the highway gears in the diff will really hurt you.

IF it has 320hp even with the highway gears i would say high13s low 14s. L98s with their whopping 220-245hp ran mid 14s.

Re: Estimated Drag Times?

All the LO3 engines ive saw have run in the 15s. LB9s and L98s in the 14s. If your car has more HP and you can get any kind of traction then why in the world would that car not run in the 14s at the least. But what is your 320 hp rated on ? Have you replaced that dogleg for a posi-trac? Does the car get traction? All kinds of things factor in when racing. I had a 320hp+ or - GTA that ran 13.7 with 323 or 327 some odd gears and spinning the hell out of my street tires. I think with some sticky tires and gears it would have hit very low 13s.

Re: Estimated Drag Times?

well thats the thing. im looking for a rear end for it. trying to maybe get a s10 blazer posi or something like that. i think with a rear end upgrade ill be in the 13s for sure. my neighbor has a 70 chevelle with a VERY similar motor to mine but has a 3.73 posi and he does low 13s, n my car is by far lighter.

Re: Estimated Drag Times?

I wouldnt do the s10 or blazer rear end and gears they are sh%! from what i hear. If you could find a good used 9bolt out of a 3rd gen you would have something. If not get an Eaton or Yukon posi but not an Auburn. Some 342-373 gears and you will not be disapointed. It sounds like you gota pretty nice street setup going. Good luck!

Hmm.. Someone put it in there then. It didnt come factory wit posi. Good deal though gears arent too pricey but the posi units aint cheap. You have saved some coin chief!
