Need cam help??

Im looking to upgrade my current Miniram'ed 383, and Im stuck on picking the cam. My new combo will be as follows:

Miniram, 58mm TB, 383, 10.4 comp ratio
AFR 210 eliminator competition heads (when they come out)
Hooker longtubes 2210's and mufflex 4" catback
T-56 tranny with 4.10 gears

The cams Im thinking are:

TPIS ZZX (early one) 240*/240* with .595/.595 lift w/1.6 rr
on a 112* Lobe sep.

Comp Cams XFI 242*/248* with .584/.579 lift w/1.6 rr
on a 113* Lobe sep.

I will be running a Hydra-rev on either cam as well

My car basicly becomes my daily driver in the summertime, I do drag race a few times a year as well as some road racing. I do all of my own prom work, and will be tuning it on the dyno. Im just wondering what cam would make more power and be better suited for the street? Thanks

Not sure on the cams as that a tough call. But I can tell you that you are leaving some horsepower on the table with that compression ratio. I would up it some depending on what the dynamic compression ratio comes out to.

Yea, I think I can get the compression ratio up to 10.8 without having to swap pistions.

Another thing I was thinking about is I should be able to run a single pattern cam with the AFR Eliminator competition heads. Im quite sure they flow well enough to take advantage of that. Or would the dual pattern be better suited for the street? Ahhh, soo many questions, LOL.

Not sure on the AFR Eliminator heads but with the others Tony Mamo of AFR recomends a 4-6 degree bias on the intake. So if you had 220 on the intake you would want 224-226 on the exhaust at .050". I don't think you can go wrong with a 4-6 degree bias. Best to give them a call and I bet it depends on the combination and how free flowing your exhaust really is.

So it would seem that the XFI cam would be the better choice with its 242-248. Proably have more vaccume too at idle with its 113* lobe seperation I suppose. I have tried to e-mail AFR a few times but never got a response. Calling from Iraq is a bit of a challange for me. My exhaust will be Hooker supercomps 1 3/4 longtube headers 3" Y pipe into a 4" Mufflex catback.
