How to Clearance a Crank Scraper?

Alright, I bought an oil pan from Canton Racing and it has a built in crank scraper (welded to the side of the pan). I'm just wondering how the hell am I supposed to clearance this thing. Could I use clay or something? And how much room should I leave between the crank and scraper? Thanks for any help. And if no one knows, I'll just grind the damn thing off.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Easiest way is to bolt something thin and stiff to the oil pan bolts on that side; something like real thin clear plastic (probably the best), or cardboard; clearance THAT to the crank; then transfer that pattern to the real thing and cut it out with a die grinder or tin snips.

Interesting idea. I'll give that a try.

Make a template from posterboard. Trim as required. When you get it the way you want it, transfer to the scraper and cut as required.

Typical clearance is 1/16".

I don't use one in my engine. I don't even use a windage tray. My oil pan has a baffle to keep the oil in the sump and the oil level is low enough that it's far below the crank. 7 quart pan with about 6 quarts in it.
