motor mount

I've got a busted motor mount. If i wanted to secure this engine extremely well, how would i go about doing so. (another factor is having NO cash at all) When i push the throttle, the motor picks up about 1 1/2 feet. (The driver side mount is busted) I'm not going to fabricate motor mounts. I was considering just taking it out, putting an iron spacer in there, drilling a hole(s) through it and the frame, and just running a bolt straight through into the motor. So i suppose my question would be, what would be the most effective way to secure this engine to the frame, with the least amount of cash, plus the simplest form possible with say, chain, cable, or.. any suggestions? Thanks

+1 vote for buying new motor mounts.

I just searched and found some stock replacements new for $18, seems worth it to me.

dude seriously, new engine mounts are dirt cheap

all you need is a floor jack and a socket and a ratchet to replace them, its very straightforward

do it right or dont do it at all

dont be a bozo

if you cant afford something as cheap as chevy engine mounts, or are too lazy to replace them(its the same or more work to try to do the chain or cable thing) then get a bicycle or motorcycle

good luck

if you wanted to step it up a notch... instead of $12 to $20 for replacement mounts... spend the extra $3 and get poly mounts.

ok so i spent the last approx 8 hrs in the 20 degree weather with no power in the shed (wires got too hot and melted together causing a short) bolting bolts, jacking car up, tightening crap, mounting chains... and so on, and finally!!!!!!!! the motor is secure via chain! and about 5 bolts, and many adapter plates i had to bolt together also because via the power going out, it made it virtually impossible to use the welder. but anyways it works! and i did it free! and it only took me about 8 hrs!

Got a question here how do you get past the suspension arm? it is in the way of the nuts holding the engine mount bolts in place. i have got new engine / gearbox mounts and have had a quick look and it looks quite hard to swap them over.
