Comp 280XFI info needed
I know the duration, lift, and stuff like that but what I need to know are:
1) Idle characteristics in a 350 and 383....sound clips would be great.
2) Do you need a vacuum assist for the brakes and how much vacuum does it pull?
The combo I'm thinking about is:
383 with 10.5 compression
AFR 180cc heads(need the torque for the truck)
280 XFI hyd. roller
HSR with deburring/polished runners
58mm TB
32 lb/hr injectors
however, I might have to go 355 if funds don't permit for the 383.
Thanks for the info.

I don't have it in a 350-383, but in a 305, well 312. Idles with 12-14 in/hg of idle at 750 rpm.

Thanks Fast.....doesn't sound like a bad idle at all in your 312. Should sound mean in a 383 then.
The brake assist is what I am more worried about....keeping the vacuum up enough.
Anyone else?

No problem with brakes here. 350 TPI. I think I'm pulling around 10-11 at idle these days. Was less but I've changed the tune quite a few times. I'd consider some larger heads or a smaller cam though, doesnt sound like a good match to me.

Yea, I know what you mean about the heads but there great for torque. I would just like to know what there potential is and when does it become a restriction. They are actually like a 185cc if I remember correct from an article that was written about AFR so.....we shall see. The HSR port and 180cc port is an exact match so that's not a problem as I see it. But like I said, I would like to know the potential for these heads and switch later if I have too. Not a big deal to me b/c I always like to change things if I'm not happy with them.....plus, I already have them on a existing engine in the truck so....they are here for the picking and I don't have to spend money on them.
