My 1st Camaro!!! Finally!!

I just bought my first Camaro about a week ago. It is a 1991, and I am pretty sure it is a RS. However, somebody in the ownership line of the car put ground effects on it that say Z-28, and it also says it in the back. However, the label under the hood says 5.0. I really need to figure out which 5.0 is in it, so I can make some kind of budget plan to build it up. I want it to be a daily driver while I build it up. Everybody on this site knows wayyyyyy more than me about Camaro's, but I definitely want to learn about them too. I have wanted a 3rd Gen Camaro ever since I was old enough to tell the difference in cars! Any information you have would be great. And, is there any F-body enthusiasts that live in Illinois/ Wisconsin? So, that being said, I think some nice plug wires/ spark plugs would be a good start....any suggestions??

If its a throttle body injected lo3 there will be a large round aircleaner, if not its the tuned port injected lb9.

Well yeah if your sure its an RS and a 305 then it only can be a L03. But if you only know thats it's a 305, and not sure whether its an RS or Z28 then that's how you can tell.

It does have the large aircleaner on top, and it definitely is not a V6. Where do you find the VIN at, and I'll let you know what the 8th digit is. I read some posts yesterday about a person at GM who can look your car up. Is this still a viable option? Thank you for answering.....I need help!

A lot of the Illinois members hang out on the No. Indiana/So. Chicago board. Just click the link and we will be glad to help. Also check out our ThirdGenFest every Memorial Day Saturday. Welcome to the wonderful world of ThirdGens.

Also take some pics and that will speed up the identification process. And your vin and RPO codes willgive a clue to what you have.

Here is the VIN for my 91 RS: 1G1FP23E4ML196420 Not sure what that character between 'm' and '1' is supposed to be. It may be some kind of divider between 2 different sections or something. It looked kind of like an 'L' so that is what I put it as! Is there a section on this site to look them up?

you could start with the usual tune up stuff........ cap and rotor, plugs wires, new filters all around, if you want to do a fairly cheap mod headers are fun and will not effect anything on the daily driver side of things.......ive got some on mine....i think they cost me like 180 bucks...heddman shorties.......they will give you a nice rumble and give you better air flow.......get a cooler thermostat too......thats easy to do.......exhaust too
just the normal stuff

I know, it's about time. I've wanted one ever since I could tell the difference in cars. My 9 year old son loves it too! He tells me to 'get on it' all the time. It's in pretty good shape, just needs some TLC and TIME!!
