IAC question

I just set my IAC and during the setting when you start the car I have to floor the car to get it started and then tap the gas to keep it running, even after I turn up the idle speed. Am I missing something or do I have something else wrong. Is this normal?

if you mean the idle air control valve in the tbi unit usually you have to set them to about 1 and 1/8" length

good luck

Are you talking about the Idle Air Control Motor, or Minimum Air Rate?

First off, the IAC is not adjustable. The computer controls that. That's like saying I want to adjust my O2 sensor, and enrichen the Air/fuel mixture to make the O2 reading higher.

If you are talking about setting your minimum air rate, once set, it shouldn't die or have to hold the throttle open to start. It's possible you're IAC motor isn't working at all.

Yes I am talking about the IAC "idle air control valve" and from the tech page it talks about setting it, so that is what I tried doing. How do you set it up since it is not adjustable. I need input because now the car idles high and low based off the info on the tech page. Before setting the car idle real low when cold and sometimes died.
Any help would be great.

Re: IAC question

You need to make sure the throttle plate butterflies and housing is clean of any carbon build up. Also, the IAC pintle also gets carbon build up on it. If the pintle, plates, and housing are clean, and adjusting the minimum air rate doesn't allow the computer to control the RPM, then there is another problem.
