Roller Rocker Studs
A while back I got into a thread about roller rockers, specifically about how far into the Perma-Loc Adjusters the set screw should be. That member's and mine were about half-way into the Lock and he found that the studs he had were shorter than the studs for roller rockers (the locks are longer as well.) so I got to checking mine and found a few had locks that wouldn't go back on when I tried to reset the lash, I reasoned that not enough thread had engaged the lock and the threads galled (probably stock screw-in studs.) Looking at the rockers closely I could see where the nut part of all the locks were cutting into the top edge of the rocker stud slot (see pictures.)
I went to my Performance Parts Store, explained my problem, and was solded a set of ARP 134-7104 rocker studs & Perma-locks.
Before installing the new parts I looked at the studs holes in my alum heads and found them to have helicoils inserts which are almost flush with the pad.
The new studs have a 1/4" tapered shank that would crush the anything within 1/8" under the nut (see pictures) because that part flares out to meet the nut. I bought 7/16" ID x 3/4" OD x 1/8" lock-washers, but was wondering if it was the right thing to do. The lock-washer is 1/8" thick, but would cut into the aluminum pad, which doesn't appeal to me.
I'm not sure I can find 7/16" ID x 3/4" OD x 1/8" flat washers.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Those studs were intended for use with guide plates. With those, the unthreaded part wouldn't matter. It's supposed to help locate the plates, which usually have chamfered holes.
I don't think there's anything wrong with using washers as spacers, to simulate the thickness of guide plates. I'd use flat washers rather than split lock washers though, or at least, in addition to them. I wouldn't put a split lock directly on an expensive aluminum casting.

In the ARP catalog
Part #134-7104 has a Foot note#6 assigned to it.
Note#6 Fits most SBFord with 3/8 screw-in studs.
Foot note number#1 These parts have a shank portion under hex to locate guide plate.
But, Foot note#1 isn't assigned to part number 134-7104.
I think 8-18 ss flat washers will work.

Use AN washers, they have the small OD.
Something like the 98017A205 at mcmastercarr. Should be able to find them locally.

Thanks Sonix,
I'll look at Mc Master-Carr for the dimensions then see about getting it locally, yesterday I tried Lowe's, but no luck.
Is the AN type something my Performance Parts Store would have?

Look at head bolt washers at your local speed shop. They're usually not much bigger than the 5/8" hex head of a head bolt. And of course, they're typically high-quality, hardened, etc.

Yea, head bolt washers (mr gasket makes them, I forget the P/N offhand), they're like $3 a pack, would work.
AN is opposed to SAE or... the other one, I forget. AN < SAE < xxx. The last one is like a fender washer, they're gigantic. AN is kinda specialized, more expensive. I get them at fastener stores, most parts stores probably wouldn't have them on the shelf.

Once again thanks Sonix,
The head bolt washers are probably the best option.
I called my PP Store, and they have them.
