Which heads for 400SBC
Right now I am looking at two sets of heads some guys are tryin to sell, what do you guys think the better choice would be for a 400 sbc, a set of ported Brodix Track 1s or a set of Sportsman 2 heads, they both have 200cc intake runners and 64cc comb chambers.
Thanks for any input in advance,

You didn't mention price, so I assume that isn't a deciding factor.
Brodix would be the "name" choice.

Re: Which heads for 400SBC
The Brodix heads will make more power by far.
As long as they are not damaged or Ported rediculasly big they are the better head. brodix heads are 215cc out of the box. So with porting they are now bigger.
They like a good bit of cam duration and lift.
The sportsman heads are nice strong castiing and make great power especially with porting.

Re: Which heads for 400SBC
hey F-bird, those brodix heads...would you be able to use them on a fully ported TPI setup?
im lookin at the brodix for my 383 TPI, but i dont want to go too big on the duration and lift, what do you recommend?

Re: Which heads for 400SBC
No they are not a good match for a TPI motor.
They are a high rpm type head.
For a TPI motor you want to concentrate on mid torque
A 170 to 190 cc head would be better.
Keep the camshaft duration short and torquey and the valve lift high for a modded TPI motor. TPi is just not a high rpm setup. The physics of the long runners enhance mid range torque but limit the high rpm range of a motor.
If you want to build a EFI motor using Brodix Track 1's get a LT-1, holley Stealth ram, or TPIS mini ram manifold and cam it up.
