Could someone please clear this one up for me once and for all. Did the third gen' formula 350 come with the aluminium heads or are they iron? I've read conflicting stories in different books. So, what's the definitive answer anybody?

No, Formulas and thirdgens in general did not come with aluminum heads. The only ones that may have (and not all of them) would be Firehawks.

 

The corvette with the "L98" (same engine code as our 350 TPI), had AL heads IIRC. That may be the source of the confusion.

But yea, i'd be leery about what else you read in that book. Is it that fabled book about souping up a third gen? I forget what it's called, but apparently it's filled with misinformation and very little useful specific info. "How to hotrod a thirdgen" is a pretty broad field so...

 

Thank's guys. Can't remember which publication in particular. Probably the old, 'same motor as the Corvette' statement indeed. I've definitely read that the GTA came with aluminium heads.

Anyway, cheers for clearing that one up.
