Engine Rebuild

Alright im new on the forum but i figured i could come here and ask for help..anyway my car is starting to run worse and for that matter has never run what i think it should..i have an 1983 Z28 and had it had a motor swap done when i bought it..yeah i shouldnt have bought it but was only 16 so i messed up, either way im trying to get it running good again..i was told it was a 327 off a 65 chevy, when i bought it already had a cam and headwork..i can hear the cam and see that the heads have been touched since then i've put a significant amount of modifications to it, still it runs bad im not sure whats up with it but im wanting to get it running right wondering what all id have to do to get it reliable again and running to it potential..also anyone know what and how much would i need for a engine rebuild
