how much power and torque will my combo make
well i finally got my new engine into my 89 bird, kinda curious as to how much power im going to make here's the list of goodies and items for the motor
305 2 bolt bored .060" over and decked .010" down
turned crank ground .030 on mains and .030 on rods
rebuilt connecting rods
standard oil pump
cloyes double roller timing chain, set 2* camshaft advance
melling mtc-1 torque cam 204*/214* .420"/.442
ported and gasket matched L03 heads #081
edelbrock performer eps intake manifold
600 cfm 4160 holley carb
flowtech shorty headers
no smog pump
12* initial timing
future plans include:
roller rockers
125 hp nitrous kit
~3.73 gears
limited slip
255/50/r15's
im going to dyno it asap, and race it at the local 1/8th mile track, but for now im just wanting to get an idea for flywheel numbers, i think it should be around 270 horse and 310 lb/ft or torque

Re: how much power and torque will my combo make
Are those 081 heads, or the LO3 heads? (187's?)
Possibly mediocre heads, very mild cam, basically a stock intake manifold, mediocre exhaust. Whole lot of "average" parts there, nothing all that special really.
Either way, that's a teeny cam, I think you'll be disappointed in your output
I don't think you'll make 270FWHP. Maybe 230HP. Just my semi educated wild guess though.

hmm ill check the number when i get home for the heads, they are the tbi heads, not the tuned port heads, i have a set of tuned port heads, but personally i didn't see much that was better between them other than the initial runner, and i took car of that with a die grinder

Yea, your TBI heads are the 187 heads. Ugh.
You ground off the swirl ramp with a die grinder?!? All of it? Wow, uhh, not many people do that.
I have no idea what that'd leave you with...
I would have rather ported the 081's, but who knows what you're at now.
I'm still thinking 230HP. Let us know what you see on the dyno, i'm curious.

Re: how much power and torque will my combo make
ok, but how much torque do you think, i could probably see that for horsepower, yeah i spent alot of time getting these heads how i wanted them, i contoured the bulge/funnel/ramp or whatever its called nicely into the runner, personally when i got done i thought there was more volume than the runner of the tpi heads, i know volume isn't everything, but it sure can help, i also cut up high into the head, as to increase speed into the port, i wish i had gotten some pics of the heads before i put it together, all in all i probably have 20-30 hours in the heads
