wheres it coming from?

ok so when i turn my car off it starts smokeing on the driverside. at first it seemed to be the valve cover gasket but now it seems that sometime its comeing from below the manifold. could white smoke be comeing from the gaskets around the exhaust ports? because its only when i turn the car off, and only a few seconds of smoke. or maybe its always smokeing and i just cant see it with the car on because of the fan blowing? anybody ever had a leek at the manifolds smoke?

Sure its white smoke? If it is you might have a head gasket going out and either pushed out onto the manifolds or its going through the combustion chamber and smoking out the manifold gasket .. probably enough of a leak in the manifold gaskets to come through.. anyway check to see if you can find fluid coming out along the cylinder head

Re: wheres it coming from?

i'll check and see. i hope its not a head gasket because this is my temp motor that has to last untill at least mid april. if it is a head gasket what would be some other symptoms?

Yeah, all the time, people have that...

Valve covers. They leak RIGHT DIRECTLY AT the manifolds. The oil runs right down to where the manifolds meet the head.

Re: wheres it coming from?

at first i thought it was the valve cover gasket because i took that side's valve cover off when i put the motor in so i figured since i reused the old gasket it was leeking a little. because most of the time you see the smoke from between the valve cover and the manifold but then sometimes it seems to be coming from a little lower so i wasnt sure. i'll have to check this weekend.
