Engine(motor)mount/engine fitting Question.

I've used the search and found nothing at all which mentions what I was looking for.

Can anyone tell me if the engine mounts can be mixed up side to side? and also should the part which is mounted to the K-member should be mounted with the cut out corner to the bottom?

The problem I'm having is that when installing a new ZZ4 engine I'm having great difficulty getting the engine to go onto the mounts. They are both sitting about 3mm too far forward. I've got the gearbox dowels to match up, just about, but the whole engine needs to go back a little and no matter how much wresteling it just wont go back. Could I have the engine mount shells on the wrong sides?

Cheers
JAmes.

Do you mean the part that bolts to the engine itself? There was a discussion about that about 2 years ago on the Engine Swap forum. They are different, but not in any way I could see relative to the bolt hole locations. And, if anything, swaping them side-to-side only made side-to-side location differences IIRC.

I know what you're talking about. Try jacking up the front of the transmission so you can mount the bellhousing before the engine mounts come down into place.

Re: Engine(motor)mount/engine fitting Question.

Yeah the bits that go onto the engine. They just dont seem to be lining up as nicely as i thought they would.

We've jacked the tranny up and lowered the rear of the engine and messed about with it for a few hours, but in the end had to give up and rest the engine on a jack and leave it linked upto the crane.

It just seems its all too far forward. We'll probably do some more wresteling later tonight. I'll try get a pick or two up aswell just incase there is anything obviously wrong.

Cheers

Ahh, they are defo different then. I might try swaping them over and see what happens, theres nothing to loose really.

Thanks for the help. If anyone else has some tips, keep them coming
