I need to do a basic tune on my 89 gta. I have new everything for the most part. Engine is a 383 now. I started it and ran it up to temp. And then shut it off to cool back down and look everything over. Over all it runs OK but there are a few problems. Car is idling at about 1200 rpms. If you crack the throttle after the car is warmed up it pops then revs. How do I make base adjustments . I tried to set the timing at 6 degrees . Is the wire you unplug to set the timing the same one which drives the tach ? Where do I start ?

 

no no no, the one u wanna unplug is the one on the passenger side of the firewall, tan with a black tracer that cuts the ecm out of the loop

do this after the engine is running, then set base timing and shut of and replug in
