Re: gear drive with hydraulic lifters??
The hydraulic part has nothing to do with it. It's the bolt pattern on the factory roller cam.

and if i go with a solid cam and lifter setup i can use the regular pete jackson? any problems going from hydraulic to solid?
Re: gear drive with hydraulic lifters??
There are several manufacturers that make gear drives for the factory roller cams. Probably the reason that Summit doesn't say any of them are applicable is the fact that the noise a gear drive unit creates sets off the knock sensor on a stock, computer controlled motor. Pete Jackson makes a "quiet" version of their gear drive that supposedly doesn't affect the knock sensor. I run a normal, noisy gear drive on my old school 350 in my 69 Camaro, and I love it, but when I built my L98 350, I didn't want to worry about whether it would affect the knock sensor or not, so I just ended up going with a Cloyes True Roller timing chain set instead. The Cloyes set is more than adequate for any hot street small block engine. If you're set on a gear drive, just make sure the application is for 87-up with factory roller cam, and try to get the "quiet version".

well the car is going to have an engine built for it so it doesnt really matter about the knock sensor as its not going to be there.
