I was wondering about the vacuum connector that hooks to the FPR. What exactly is it's purpose (the vacuum connector) and can I just plug it off or is it absolutely necessary to have vacuum there?

It is necessary.

The fuel pressure is supposed to change as the engine vacuum changes. Think about it.... vacuum = reduced pressure in the manifold; no vacuum (WOT) = higher pressure in the manifold; higher pressure in the manifold = less difference between fuel pressure and manifold pressure = less fuel flow. In other words, just when you need the most flow, the system gets it flow automatically reduced.

The FPR overcomes that.

Can you also tell me which vacuum line hooks to the FPR? Looking at diagrams, it appears that there is one coming from the throttle body plenum but I'm not sure which one.
