Converter pilot will not fit into crank?!
Well I just relplaced my crank in my car. With a factory unit, or at least so I thought. Had it balanced and everything was fine, Installed with no problems. When mateing the motor and tranny together I noticed (before zipping it together) that the converter -pilot snub- the best I could describe it, was not engaging into the back of the crank.
checked the converter into other cranks with no problems.
I tried 2 other coverters one was aftermarket, one was an oem piece neither would work. I had no acurate tools to measure the diameter of the machined hole in the crank. Although, by the look of it the other cranks I used for reference were prolly .1-.2" larger in diameter.
This is a 1 piece rear seal motor. I got the crank from a machine shop.
I was trying to figure out how that would be? Unless GM didnt machine that area as large on manual trans vehicles Although, they dont rely on the larger recessment anyways. They use the smaller one into which the pilot bearing is pressed in. so I doubt they would have done that.
Im totally clueless and pretty heated. Maybe its a marine application? Any Ideas?
It looks im tearing it back down again.

About all you can do is take it out and take it to a GOOD machine shop and have it fixed.
Where did this crank come from? What brand & model? Maybe the mfr will repair it?

No bushing, thats what I thought at first too.
The crank was supposedly a factory crank, althought I cant see a crank that will not allow a converter to bolt up to it a factory crank. When I get it tore down I will get the casting number. Finals are coming up so it might be a bit.
I am going to get an Eagle ESP crank (what I should have done the first time)
