Help Car Died!!!

So I'm coasting down a long hill and I down shifted into 2nd and continued coasting. Then out of no where my tach drops to 0 with a slight backfire sound. I can still hear the motor kind of running so I push on the gas and nothing. When I put into N it died while coasting. I have no spark at the coil, and it's displaying code 12. But nothing else. The Check Engine light was on until I shut it off. I'm confused. I tried a new coil just in case it went bad on me but no help. The injectors are firing so I know it's a spark related issue. Crank Sensor maybe? I've replaced almost everything to do with the ignition at one point or another.

Please Help ASAP, my car is sitting on the highway at the moment.

Thanks

My first guess would be the ignition module. They'll quit in the blink of an eye like that. A coil rarely, if ever, just dies instantly.

Re: Help Car Died!!!

Code 12 is not a problem, that just means that the ECM is able to report codes and passed it's self tests. If no other codes are displayed after this one, then you have no codes.

If you have verified no spark with a plug wire pulled off a plug and another plug inserted into the wire and laying on the strut tower, then definitley try a new ignition module.
