Hey guys... i have an 83z with 4wheel disc... My damn proportioning valve has a hole and it's leaking from it.. what the hell does this hole do? is it supposed to be plugged?
here is a pic of the hole i am talking about(red arrow ofcourse), i can't get a good enough picture of my actual valve..

and yes i am sure this is where its leaking from.. Slowly, i need to add fluid to the canister approx every 3 weeks? or so

I don't have one in front of me right now (and I cannot really see it well in the picture, doesn't look like a 3rd gen valve that I'm familiar with) so I cannot tell you what the hole is for but let me ask you this... If you have a part on your brake system that has spent 24 years next to the heat from an exaust manifold, and likely minimal maintenance, and it is now leaking, wouldn't it be smart just to replace it?

 

ofcourse i will if i have to but, if i can fix it for $8 instead of $80 i'd rather do that.. just looking to see if there is a quick fix or not..

and i can't buy the valve new(cant find one anywhere).. so i'd have to buy used anyways
