connecting rods
it has been quite a while since i have put a small block together [over 5 years] and i have 1 of those so called stupid questions. i bought a set of gm performance rods from a guy off of here [brand new] a set of kb hypertectic pistons 30 over had my 350 bored 30 over. the machine shop guy told me after measuring the pistons they were one of the best sets he had seen in a while. and there was no difference in any of them. any way he installed the pistons on the rods and i brought everything home. now the question the rods at the crank end have one flat side and one beveled side which go next to each other beveled or flat? he did not mark the rods as he said that was for me to do because they were new and i should mark them to what ever hole i put them in. i can on the floor put them either way and still have the mark on the piston facing forward. i'd give him a call and ask but he is in montana fishing for a week and i want to put this together. HELP , tom

Re: connecting rods
bearing tangs down
The side without the tangs goes toward the cam.
You should have 4 such that if you lay them down with the "front" mark on the piston up, the tangs should be to the left; and 4 with the tangs to the right. The ones with the tangs to the right are the odd # cyls (left bank). I'll let you figure out which side the other ones go in.
