Several questions about braided fuel line..

What is the proper way to connect braided fuel line to steel lines? I need to connect my -8 fuel line to my 3/8th feed line...

Re: Several questions about braided fuel line..

You can flare the hard line and use a tube nut and sleeve, or you can use a self-threading adapter.

Re: Several questions about braided fuel line..

Quite a few ways it can be done...

What kind of setup is this?

Are we talking a 'pump in tank' semi-high pressure feed line, or just a suction line with the pump on the block?

I just used a compression fitting on mine when i plumbed in the new pump and carb to the existing steel lines.

Re: Several questions about braided fuel line..

Its a pump in tank, I'm converting from tpi to carb. I can't seem to find the proper fitting for 8 to 3/8ths anywhere though.. I can find 6an to 3/8ths.. Will I have to switch to a smaller line???

Re: Several questions about braided fuel line..

There's not much point connecting a -8 hose that has an I.D. of 1/2" to a hard line with an I.D. of half that.

Re: Several questions about braided fuel line..

Its not going to help, no. But if thats what you have to work with, thats what you have to work with!

Reducers are definately available, aeroquip "performance" part # FCM2410

I would use one of those reducers, then on the steel tube use a flareless ferrule (#FCM2492) and a nut (#FCM2497) and your good to go.

You can find the catalogue here if you want to look around a little more, or see what im talking about---

Re: Several questions about braided fuel line..

Found all the fittings I needed, thanks guys, and yeah a friend gave me 10ft of -8 an earls braided line so it was cheaper to buy the adapter fittings than switch to a smaller line and buy the nessicary fittings for that
