Why wont my car start

I just put a 350tpi in my 90 iroc and i had it started a couple of times. I tried starting it the next day and it wouldnt crank over so i went under and bumped the starter by connecting a wire from the one starter set of wires to the solenoid and it cranked over. I checked the solenoid wire with a test light while the key was turned and it didnt light up so somewhere down the line its not getting power to the solenoid. I changed the ignition switch and it still wouldnt start. So where do i go from here? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Why wont my car start

I think that there's a "fuseable link" that connects to the solenoid. Do a search on fuseable link and see what you can find.

Re: Why wont my car start

I traced the solenoid to where it goes through the firewall and tried the test light and it didnt work so i dont think it will be the fusible link. I think it may be my starter enable relay or my neutral safety switch.

Re: Why wont my car start

I traced the solenoid wire which is purple to where it goes through the firewall and tried the test light and it didnt work so i dont think it will be the fusible link. I think it may be my starter enable relay or my neutral safety switch. I noticed on the car i took the motor out of (1991 z28) that the starter enable relay is gone and two of the wires are cut from the four going into the connector for the relay are wired together what would that be all about? Did they override the starter relay switch so it didnt have to be used at all? I have both cars. I was going to take the 1991 starter relay switch to use in my 1990 but it wasnt there i explained what they did to get around using it
