temp sensor on driver's side?

Is there a temp. sensor or switch on the driver's side of a TPI motor? I was underneath my wife's 88 GTA tonite and saw it for the first time. It is a 305 TPI, 5-spd. It looks like a temp. sensor to me. Anyone?

thanks!

There should be a sensor in both heads . The drivers side is for the guage and the pass side is for the second fan.
