if you unhook the battery how will the fuel pump turn on?
make sure to open the gastank before you start loosening fittings

does your tank ever build up pressure? when you take the cap off does it hiss?
that will force fuel down the line and make a mess
i like to take the cap off so i dont get sprayed... but there is no way around losing gas...

For the record, the FP fuse (I think - been a while since I've worked on a stock wiring system), should be on the fuse block in the driver compartment. The FP relay fuse should be up along the passenger side fender (IIRC), by the battery/overflow tank in a weatherpack. Or you could pull the fuel pump relay itself (relay strip on the firewall, by the brake booster - one of the middle relays).
