Do I have a bad ground?

5.7 L L98 TPI. Car starts fine when sitting overnight. Whenever it's been run, even for 30 seconds, it usually won't start again after it's been shut down. Turns over fine, just won't fire. I discovered I can get it to run if I jump it in the no-start condition, even though the battery will turn the engine over well without the jump, at least by sound. Distributor/coil/pick-up/ignition module all new, and it has spark in the no-start condition confirmed by timing light and visual observation pulling a plug out and cranking. Electricity is the final frontier when it comes to my understanding it. Where would the most likely spot for the bad ground be based on these conditions? Or is it something else? The fuel delivery system checks out ok all components, that I do know.

You should take the 50/50. Either it is flooding while it sits hot or there is no injector firing after it warms up. If it is flooding then starting fluid won't make any difference. If you spray it and it fires right up then it is an injector drive/electrical problem. As always, use starting fluid with caution. Eyebrows do grow back but you look silly for a good while...

LOL! But I don't require starting fluid to get it running in the no-start condition. I just need jumper cables and another battery. The battery on this car is newer, which is why I am wondering if it isn't getting a good ground. I'll check all the grounds I can find, but was concerned if it were caused by a specific ground to a specific part like the bat/block or whatever. Thanks for your reply!

This thread covers the "hidden" grounds:

Re: Do I have a bad ground?

Thanks Supervisor42. I had an engine rebuild done a few years back and I suppose it's possible they missed connecting that ground right or is dirty. I'll check that and probably just add another ground for good measure. Thanks again for all your help! I hope it works, LOL!
