Valve Stem Seals

I am getting ready to replace valve stem seals in my 86 305 with an lg4. I got the fel-pro set, and I am not sure if what I was sold will work or not, all umbrella.

My first set is for the exhaust valves. The paperwork says 81-91 small block. They are really hard nylon.

The second set I got is for small block 65-79 which includes both the exhaust and intake (it was just suppose to include the intake, didn't notice that or the year difference until later). They are your typical soft rubber compound.

My question is will the ones from 65-79 work? Do I need to use those on the intake and the nylon on the exhaust, rubber on both, or get an intake set for 81-91?

Silly question, but I don't want to have to do this job twice.

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Valve Stem Seals

Usually the hard umbrella ones are for the exhaust and the intake utilizes a cylinderical rubber version.
