Distributor Question

So I've successfully installed my carb, sans electronics. Now I'll be putting on a vacuum distributor instead of the computer controlled one (for reliabilities sake). I understand that this needs a different plug than the electronic distributor; can anyone tell me what to do for this? I understand there is a vacuum hose that goes to my carb, and I'll figure out that one later, but in terms of wiring up my distributor, how do I do this? Where do I get the different plug and then how will I end up wiring it up?

Thanks!

Re: Distributor Question

I think it's an HEI, how does the wiring work for this?

Re: Distributor Question

HEI will have the coil built in the dizzy.. If this is what you have, look on top of the cap. It will be labeled. Batt, Tach.. Autozone should have the pigtail to the dizzy, or you can get a harness from a carbed car 82-86. All you have to do is run a 12v switched wire to Batt connector, and splice in the Tach (white wire in the driver side harness). Some of the cars have a pink wire on the driverside harness. This would be for the Batt on HEI.
