There have been MANY reports of broken 918 springs in the past few months (almost all broken in the exact same spot), most resulting in no major damage, a few with dropped valves. Please visit these links and pass the information along:

There are many, many threads about this all over the net I've found, there are a few highlights.

Please if you are running 918s purchased in the last year, pull your valve covers and check for a broken spring! Mine were purchased June, 2006 and I have no problems, neither do others from that far back. It's largely people buying them within the last few months.
