How bad does it smell.... Even brand new cars smell horrible when they are first started. The convertor does not work until it is heated up.
If you are running rich it will smell worse on startup. A rich condition can be caused by a bad FPR. Check the fuel pressure at idle.

Smells like what? French fries? Supposedly there is an engine out there that runs on used fry oil.
Seriously though we need more info to better help you out.

Re: Car smells when I start it
Srry I guess I should have given a better description. Ok soo when i start my car, there is no smell (a little bit of smoke but no smell). However once the engine gets a little warm say 160 I get this really bad almost burning hair/rotten egg kid of smell (its not pleasant).
At First I just thought it was because my stupid friend Curtis decided he wanted to change my Thermostat bc hes a master mechanic but didnt drain the radiator or even have a bucket handy to catch excess coolent soo my engine was drowned in coolent but, that was 2-3 weeks ago and Im thinking thats not the problem anymore.
That engine that smells like french fries is a Biodiesel engine they run off of vegitable oil. Thanks for the help you guys.

Don't know about a check. There is an exhaust flow test but that'll only show a restriction.
But typically the sulfur smell (rotten eggs) is the cat. Never known it to be anything else.

could be something simple like some plastic or rubber on your exhaust manifold... heats up and starts melting. quick and easy thing to check.

run a fuel system cleaner, the ones that cost more than a few dollars and use the appropriate amount of gas when using the product... I usually use techron fuel system cleaner or slick 50 fuel system treatment, if that doesn't cure the problem then you may be in for a new CAT....
