low oil pressure??? Maybe
I was driving my 89 formula 350 tonight when, at an idle, I saw my oil gauge reading about 0-5 psi.. The car was idling around 600 rpm in drive and wasn't running bad or even making noise. It has fresh Royal Purple synthetic oil in it. This has happened once or twice before and just wondered if this is common with the third gens. I would hate to think that oil pressure is low. The car has 95K on it and runs like new including no smoke at start up. Any thougts on this?

It's a lot more common for the oil pressure gage to read 0-5 psi than it is for the oil pressure to be 0-5 psi.
Hook a mechanical gage on there and find out what you've really got. Or, for the $20-$30 a new sender will cost and what you'll probably end up doing anyway, go ahead and replace the sender.
