Just how much of a PITA is it to replace the rear main seal?
Mine has started leaking and I'm considering doing it myself but if it's major enough I'll let a local shop do it.

Remove trans, remove flywheel, R&R seal. If that sounds like a PITA then let your shop do it.

It is a pita to R/R the rear main seal especially if it's still sitting inside the car. If you plan on installing headers or upgrade the engine, wait until you have all the parts and do it all at once.

It's not bad at all if you have a bit of experience. If you dont have any experience or someone to help you, you may wish to have a shop do it.

Thanks for the replies. The experience is there but I'm short on spare time with work and work on my house so it may wind up at the mechanic's.
