Cheap, common cam that will work well for me?

I have a 350 with 193 swirl port heads and what I believe to be the small L05/L03 camshaft. I'm about 95% sure its a roller. Down the road I would like to do a nice heads and cam setup, but for now I'd like something cheap that can replace my current one. I have a few requirements though. First and foremost, I live in California, and as far as they are concerned my engine is a 305 TBI. So what comes out of the tailpipe must pass as a 305 TBI. I am running EBL w/ TBI and I can tune, so CA emissions probably isn't going to be a very limiting factor, but I just want to make sure. I can't have my engine bouncing all over the place spewing unburnt fuel at idle.

Its also gotta be completely drivable. This is a daily driven street car that sees stop and go traffic, parking lots, etc etc every single day.

All I want is a decent upgrade. I'm not really concerned with power above 5500, or even 5000, depending on how far I can go.

I don't want to spend $300 on a cam right now, I was hoping somebody could suggest something that is cheap that I could maybe find used that will work well with my setup. L98 cam maybe? LT1?

Info about my car that may be useful:

L05, 700R4 w/ unknown TC, 2.73 open rear (will eventually be a 3.42 posi), stock 2bbl TBI w/ 90# injectors (lots of fuel to play with), SLP 1-3/4 headers, full 3" exhaust w/ flowmaster super 40, L69 dual snorkel air cleaner.

Where did the 350 come from? If its a truck, then its probably not a roller cam, but it could still be a roller block. If it came from a car, like a Caprice, then it probably is a roller cam.

If it is a roller, then the stock LT1/LT4 camshaft is your best bet for a stock heads TBI.
