The Car tries to kill itself!
Yea, Exactly what the title says..
Its been quite an interesting week for me
and ole' Grey (My 89 T/A) One thing after another.
It started off on the freeway on the way home from
the airport I work at. Cruising at 75mph..T/A's favorite.
All the sudden, the car is gushing white smoke from
rear end of the car.. Need I remind you my car just hit
6k on the crank last night.
I pull off immediately.. I didnt feel any power loss or
any drivetrain noise, my temp was at 195* normal.
I look only to see a trail of trans fluid 200 yds long
all the way up the exit ramp.
Trans cooler line severed somehow, got weak..
snapped and poured all the fluid out.. I had barely
any when I stopped.. And the wind directed the fluid
unto my exhaust..causing a massive outpour of smoke.
Thank god I did stop! I woulda been all over..
Trans woulda fried!
Soon after, on the way to work the next day.. the #5
plug wire pops out of the loom and sizzles on the header
primary 10minutes into my freeway commute. It ran like a
dog and I had no idea what happened at the time.. until I
got to work and saw the terminal meltdown.
Still, the good ole Tuned port ran with freeway traffic
with 7 cylinders firing; I barely noticed.. Ironic!
And finally, I ran out of gas due to a fuel pump
swap and I cleaned my sender.. now it reads almost
1/2 off, and I didnt think it was that bad...
I make a right hand turn, the car shuts off..
and doesnt turn back on.. I got a spare tank
and some 91 octane back in her and start it up..
It runs like garbage!! like seriously not the same car!
It throws a code 20seconds after startup, and
refuses to idle, and is horribly rich.. burns my
eyes rich..
Im TPI oriented, so I knew what to check,
and everything was optimal...
After dicken around for an hour; I got the car
back to normal, no codes and idles fine but..It took
me idling the motor in my garage for 25minutes for it
to fix itself!!
What happen? Air in fuel lines? Diluted gas?
I dont understand...
On a fresh build of 6000 miles; any of those things
could have really hurt the car.. and I cant afford
to start over.
Now, Im so paranoid I dont even want to drive it!!
