retarding and advancing

I have my car retarded right now for nitrous. i dont plan on running nitrous every time i race, so I wanted to advance the timing until i buy a msd ignition to auto retard my car. My question is will I see much of a gain in power or throttle repsonse from a far retard to an advance timing?

Re: retarding and advancing

Yeah you should. I remember last summer I retarded the motor from 12 degrees at idle to right around 4-6 so I could run a lower grade gas and I could feel the difference. I said 'screw that, the extra 20 cents is worth it' and put it back to 12. I would say if you took it from -X to 10-12 you'd see a decent gain. Remember, 6 is factory.
