Car Died
Car Died
HEY gUYS,
I have a 1984 Camaro with 45,000 miles on it. Took it to the bank this morning and it just died. Motor shut right down. All electrical is out. The only electrical thing that works is when you open the door those light come on. Batt. seems to be fine. Checked all the fuses all good.
Have to get the car towed is it is sitting on a city street.
Anybody with any ideas?? Thanks in advance.
Bob

rr,
Welcome to the board Robert! There is plenty of valuable information here for most if not all of your third gen needs.
When it comes to your car shuting down, I would check the coil connection. Then see if you can find one that you can replace yours with to see if its the coil its self. That is an easy place to start and doesnt involve much wrenching. Of course there are other places to check if this isn't the issue but I would try this first.
Take care,
Rabi C.
PS dont forget a very important feature of this site is the search function.

Re: Car Died
It's one of the fusible links, down at the starter. There are 2: each feeds about half of the car's circuits. IIRC the one that always seems to blow, feeds the ignition switch and the headlight switch.
Don't fool around with the ignition system until you restore power to the passenger compartment. See my signature for helpful advice on why to leave the ignition system alone.
